A Workshop on: Writing the Literature Review Chapter

Abstract: The literature review is a critical component of a thesis, providing a foundation for research questions and situating the study within the existing body of knowledge. This workshop is aimed for PhD candidates who seek to enhance their skills in writing a comprehensive and effective literature review chapter. Participants will explore the purpose and structure of a literature review, learn strategies for organizing and synthesizing literature, and gain practical insights into effective academic writing.

Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and peer feedback sessions, attendees will develop their ability to critically engage with sources, identify gaps in the literature, and articulate their research context clearly. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with tools and techniques to confidently draft their literature review chapters, ultimately strengthening their overall thesis.

Session 1: Structure and organization of a literature review (09:30 – 11:00 am)

Session 2: Voice and style in the literature review (11:15 am – 12:30 pm)
